Summary checked

Treat the Battambang–Siem Reap boat journey as a travel experience with a flexible day. A published route description does not guarantee a shared ferry on your date or the same journey time in every season.

Why the season changes the journey

The route uses the Sangker river and Tonlé Sap waterways. Tara Boat describes its private cruise in the opposite direction, Siem Reap to Battambang, as approximately six to eight hours depending on water levels, with a different boat used in low water. That operator’s estimate should not be presented as the timetable of every ferry. Confirm the direction, route and vessel specifically for your booking.

Five questions before paying

Ask whether the offer is a shared departure or a private charter, and whether it is confirmed for your date. Request the meeting point, pickup arrangement, boarding time and final drop-off. Check shade, seating, lifejackets, toilet availability and luggage limits for the actual boat. Ask how the operator handles water conditions, a cancellation or a transfer that needs a road section.

Pack for a travel day

Keep water, sun protection, necessary medication and a charged phone in your day bag. Protect documents and electronics from splashes. Ask what food and drinking water are included instead of assuming a stop will be available. If travelling with children or limited mobility, discuss boarding and the length of the journey before choosing this route.

When to choose the road instead

If you need a predictable arrival window, compare a bus, minivan or private road transfer for your exact date. Keep the boat day separate from an essential flight or a tightly timed onward connection. We have not verified a universal daily shared-ferry schedule or fare for 19 October 2026; obtain a dated confirmation from the operator. The transport guide explains what to compare in the road option.
