How your Battambang travel spending reaches local work
Ask useful questions about guides, artists, hosts and referral fees without confusing paid travel services with charitable donations.
Linked sources support the identified places and services. The proposed itinerary and comparison method are our editorial guidance; they are not a first-hand test, live availability check or booking guarantee.

Local benefit begins with an arrangement you can understand. For a tour, ask who guides and who transports you. For a workshop, ask who teaches and supplies materials. For an artwork, ask who made it and who sells it. You do not need access to a business’s private accounts to identify the main participants. Specific answers are more useful than a broad claim that every purchase supports the whole community.
Pay for work, not access to hardship
A guide’s preparation, an artist’s teaching time and a host’s demonstration are work. An agreed fee can recognise that work without turning personal circumstances into a marketing story. Avoid expecting a lower price because a project has a social purpose. Equally, a higher price should not be justified only by an emotional appeal if the service and inclusions are unclear. Choose the activity you value and request a transparent quote.
Ask a small number of concrete questions
Who delivers this part of the visit? Is the host paid for their time? Are purchases optional? Is the visit arranged with permission? Can we book fewer stops and spend longer with one maker? These questions help you choose without treating residents as evidence to collect. Soksabike publishes its approach to community visits and a Child Safe Travel commitment; those are the operator’s statements, not an independent audit commissioned by this site.
Keep donations distinct from bookings
If you want to contribute to a club or community project, use its identified channel and ask how it describes the contribution. A transport fare, a paid lesson from a commercial seller and a donation are not automatically interchangeable. Do not assume a tax deduction, a fixed beneficiary share or a charitable registration from a friendly introduction. KKB’s own experience page describes voluntary support for its community activities; any separate tourism purchase still needs separate terms.
Our commercial direction
In Cambodia aims to create useful travel information and, when proper agreements exist, earn disclosed referral income from relevant services. Robert’s stated aim is to build work opportunities with people in Battambang while making the publishing activity financially sustainable. Local agency and artist collaborations are being developed; this page does not announce a signed contract. We will identify an active commercial link where it appears and will not claim that a percentage funds KKB unless that percentage and arrangement have been established.
