Separate shared time from individual time

A trip built around Kun Khmer does not require every companion to train or watch each session. Start with two short lists: things everyone wants to share and activities each person would enjoy independently. Breakfast, a relaxed evening meal and one countryside outing may provide enough common ground. Leave the remaining time open rather than asking one person to wait at the gym or another to miss the reason for travelling.

Confirm the club visit first

KKB’s own website presents a community club in Battambang and a visit request route. It describes voluntary donations rather than a compulsory training fee. Ask the club directly about the proposed visit, experience level, equipment and whether companions can observe. Do not convert that information into an assumed daily timetable. Keep independently purchased rooms and transport separate from a donation so everyone understands what each payment supports.

Give companions a complete alternative

An alternative needs its own destination, contact, start point and return arrangement. Phare advertises creative workshops, which can provide a starting point for someone interested in art rather than training. Other travellers may prefer independent time in town. Ask about the actual activity before arranging transport. A companion should be able to finish earlier, return to the accommodation or join dinner without needing to interrupt the training session.

Choose accommodation for two routines

Consider how the room will work when one guest leaves earlier, comes back with training equipment or wants to rest while the other reads or works. Ask about a suitable place for drying clothing and whether a shared sitting area can be used without buying another service. Plan separate keys or a reception handover where available. These ordinary details can matter more than the advertised distance from any one attraction.

Share one simple daily check-in

Agree where to meet, an approximate time and how to communicate a change. Keep both independent journeys in the travel budget; splitting activities does not necessarily mean sharing one vehicle all day. Put the confirmed club session and the companion’s confirmed activity into the same itinerary, but retain each provider’s own contact. The result is a shared Battambang stay with room for different interests, rather than a compulsory group programme.
