Renting a bicycle, scooter or car: make a useful handover record
Record the vehicle, equipment, return point and charges before a rental becomes part of your Cambodia itinerary.
UpdatedThe named operator sources support the existence of published bicycle services and equipment information only. Handover questions are original editorial guidance. No driving eligibility, insurance coverage, available vehicle or rental partner is asserted.

Describe where you plan to travel, the number of people, the bags you carry and the length of the rental. A bicycle request should include rider height and whether you need a basket, lock or child equipment. A scooter or car request should state the intended use and whether you want to drive or prefer a driver. Before self-driving, check current requirements with the relevant transport authority, the rental company and your insurer for your situation.
Ask for an identifiable offer
Request the vehicle category, what substitution is possible and which items are included. Ask whether collection and return take place at an office or at your accommodation, and whether delivery costs extra. A daily quote needs a precise start and finish time: returning in the afternoon after collecting in the morning may affect the charge. Keep optional equipment, driver service, fuel and any delivery fee visible instead of accepting one unexplained total.
Inspect together before departure
Make dated photographs with the provider of existing scratches and the supplied equipment, and keep a copy of the agreed condition record. Check brakes, lights and tyres with the provider before accepting the vehicle; ask them to demonstrate controls you do not know. For bicycles, test the fit in a suitable place and ask who can adjust it. Soksabike’s published equipment page illustrates that bike type, sizing and family equipment deserve specific questions rather than a generic bicycle booking.
Understand the return and interruption procedure
Get the return address, opening window and contact for a breakdown or delayed return in writing. Ask how a fuel or charge level will be recorded, who checks damage, and when a deposit will be released. Establish what happens if weather or a route change makes the planned use unsuitable. Keep the provider’s answer with the rental confirmation so another staff member can see the same agreement at return.
Compare driving with a transport service
A tuk-tuk or car with a driver can be quoted for a defined journey without creating a self-drive rental. State stops, waiting time and the final drop-off, and ask what an additional stop would cost. This is a different service from a scooter rental or a guided bicycle excursion. Use the reservation form to describe the service you want; the final offer must identify who supplies it and what is confirmed.
