Battambang is a distinct location

Phare Ponleu Selpak is a Cambodian nonprofit arts school based in Battambang. Its official site presents arts education alongside social and community programmes. The Battambang circus uses student performers and supports the school's work through ticket income. Phare, The Cambodian Circus in Siem Reap is a separate visitor venue. Check the city on every ticket and confirmation; similar branding does not make the two locations interchangeable. A reservation for a Siem Reap performance will not solve an evening plan in Battambang.

Choose the experience that interests you

A circus show gives you a performance at a scheduled time. A campus tour offers a different way to understand the school and its programmes. Workshops or events need their own confirmation. Phare publishes these options separately, and you should not assume that one ticket covers them all. If your interest is drawing, music or the organisation's history, ask which visit is designed for that subject. If you simply want an evening performance, confirm the current show rather than expecting a particular production from an old video.

Use the current calendar, not an old timetable

The official circus page carries a monthly programme and notes that schedules may change. We link to that page rather than reproducing a permanent timetable that could send you to a closed venue. Confirm the date, start time, location and ticket terms directly before arranging transport. Ask about arrival time and any relevant accessibility needs. A provider selling a combined day tour should identify whether the circus ticket is included, what seat category applies and how cancellation is handled.

Visit an education setting respectfully

A campus is a learning environment, not an invitation to enter any class. Follow the official tour route and staff instructions. Ask before photographing students or a classroom, and do not seek unsupervised access to children. If you want to volunteer, teach or donate equipment, use the organisation's own process rather than improvising a role during a holiday visit. Watching a performance or buying from an approved outlet can be a complete, worthwhile visit without claiming a deeper relationship with the school.

Give the evening room

If you plan to watch bats at Phnom Sampeau or attend Kun Khmer training on the same day, compare actual finishing and transfer times before booking the performance. There is no prize for arriving tired with minutes to spare. An arts-focused stay can also include a separate gallery visit and reading on CamboArts, our related publication. KKB and Phare are different organisations; our coverage does not imply a joint programme. Enjoy each on its own terms and direct questions about access or bookings to the provider responsible.
