Check the airport, transfer and first night for a Phnom Penh flight. Avoid old airport assumptions when comparing a ticket or hotel.

Read the airport code before the price

Techo International Airport, identified as KTI on its official website, began operations on 9 September 2025. That change matters when reading older Phnom Penh travel pages. Check the code, airport name, date and local arrival time on your actual ticket. A city name in a booking search is not enough to confirm a pickup point, and an old hotel transfer estimate may describe a different airport.

Compare a complete ticket

For each flight option, note the included baggage, fare-change conditions and whether all sectors are on one booking. A cheaper combination of separate tickets can leave you responsible for collecting bags and making a new check-in if the first flight is late. Consider the total travel day, not just airborne hours. We do not display a permanent “from” fare here because a meaningful comparison requires dates, passenger details and the same baggage allowance.

Agree the arrival handover

Give a booked driver the flight number and airport code. Ask where to meet, how to make contact after landing and what happens if the flight is delayed. Confirm the full destination rather than only a hotel brand. Keep the address and provider’s message offline. If your accommodation arranges pickup, establish whether it is included in the room rate or charged separately; the word “available” does not mean free.

Decide whether to stay in the city

After a long international journey, compare a first night in Phnom Penh with an immediate onward road transfer. Think about the arrival hour, who is travelling and how much flexibility the onward booking offers. A short city stay can also give you time for museums, markets or a cultural visit. For an early departing flight, ask the hotel about checkout, breakfast and transport arrangements rather than assuming daytime services operate unchanged before dawn.

Keep formalities separate from transport

Review Cambodia’s entry requirements for your travel document and use the official e-Arrival information where applicable. A completed airline booking does not settle immigration eligibility, and an arrival form is not interchangeable with a visa. Save the relevant confirmations and allow time to resolve a question before departure. When extending the journey to Battambang or the islands, leave enough margin that a flight change does not unravel every later reservation.
