An old “30 days” page cannot decide eligibility

The former page about Thailand’s 30-day visa exemption is not a current entitlement statement. Eligibility depends on your passport or travel document, purpose, dates and applicable rules. Use Thailand’s official e-Visa service and the relevant Thai embassy to determine what applies to you. Do not assume that a rule quoted by another nationality, or a previous visit years ago, settles your next entry.

Check whether the planned crossing operates

As checked on 6 October 2026, UK FCDO Cambodia advice states that Cambodia–Thailand land crossings remain suspended. Its warning also addresses travel near the border. Treat this as dated official advice, not a live reopening feed or a promise about future dates. A bus listing, historic route map or visa approval does not demonstrate that the crossing is open. Check the authorities and your own government again before paying for a cross-border journey.

Separate arrival formalities from a visa

Cambodia and Thailand have their own entry processes. Review each country independently, including any applicable arrival declaration, visa or exemption and travel-document requirements. A carrier may ask for supporting documents before departure. Save confirmations where you can retrieve them without internet access. An online form with a government-looking name should not be trusted without checking the official domain; use the links supplied by the relevant authorities.

Compare available connections as complete journeys

If you investigate flying instead of a land connection, compare the actual airports, transfer times, baggage and ticket conditions. Pattaya is not interchangeable with central Bangkok, and Phnom Penh airport descriptions need to match the current ticket. Separate tickets require particular attention to missed connections and baggage collection. Keep a flexible night before an important departure rather than basing the whole holiday on the shortest advertised transfer.

Make changes before they become expensive

Ask transport and accommodation providers what can be changed and until when. Keep a record of a cancellation request and any agreed refund terms. For a sport-focused stay, tell the gym if travel uncertainty affects your arrival instead of promising a session you may miss. The route can connect Muay Thai interests in Thailand with Kun Khmer in Battambang when conditions permit, but sporting similarities do not remove immigration or transport requirements.
